Arena Attendant/Labourer - Full Time

The Lifestyle Community of Salmon Arm is nestled on the shore of Salmon Arm Bay of Shuswap Lake, centrally located half way between Vancouver and Calgary.  With a population of approximately 17,000, it is the largest community on Shuswap Lake and serves as the business centre for the area.  Surrounded by rolling hillsides, Salmon Arm is rich in culture and arts and enjoys a full complement of excellent recreation and community facilities including a modern City Hall. With a moderate climate and four distinct seasons, Salmon Arm offers year-round recreation and is renowned for its low stress lifestyle.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the installation and resurfacing of ice at the arena, including the operation and maintenance of equipment such as the refrigeration plant and ice resurfacer.  This position also provides custodial service and minor repairs and maintenance for the building’s washrooms, dressing rooms, etc.  During the off-season, this position performs a variety of duties mostly in the Parks and Recreation Division of Public Works as a Labourer.

Candidates for this position will be self-motivated with their Refrigeration Operators Certificate and a minimum of 2 years experience in the maintenance and operation of an ice arena.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous parks experience.  All other qualifications are included in the full job description on our website www.salmonarm.ca

Remuneration for this position is in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement, $29.71/hr as an Arena Attendant and $27.33/hr as a Labourer, accompanied by a competitive benefit package.

Lifeguards/Aquafit Instructors - Part-time 

The City of Salmon Arm is currently seeking Part Time Lifeguards at the SASCU Recreation Centre. These positions are part-time (including evening and weekend shifts). Applicants must hold a National Lifeguard (NL), CPR Level C and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) award.
